Some 8/2 cotton comments

By Trugray

from New Haven, CT

Pros

  • Baby Blanket Soft Washed
  • Final Sett Was 18 Pix Per
  • Some Good Tartan Colors

Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn 6/2 Cotton:

I wanted to weave correct tartan in twill but yarn insisted on exactly right sett. Several samples forced me to 18 ppi McLeod yellow & black is very unforgiving!

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn 6/2 Cotton:

I am a professional clothing weaver and am happy to see this weight in an mercerized yarn. I have had no issues using it as both warp and weft. The colors are just lovely and it has a soft hand.

          Not overly sturdy

          By Enthusiastic towel weaver

          from Visalia, CA

          Pros

          • Marvelous Colors
          • New Weight

          Cons

          • Questionable Strength
          • Warp Threads Breaking

          Best Uses

          • Not Towel Warp

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn 6/2 Cotton:

Initially excited about the new yarn, I am on my first towel warp and have had 3 threads break which does not happen with the 8/2.

It seems to be a loosely spun yarn which may contribute to the more fragile nature. There is also a fair amount of "lint" under the loom which may indicate a loose spinning.

          Great yarn to work with

          By nrvweaver

          Pros

          • Made In The Usa
          • Nice Color Selection
          • Soft

          Cons

          • Fuzzes

          Best Uses

          • Baby Blanket
          • Towels

Comments about Yarn > Weaving Yarn 6/2 Cotton:

Just made a rosepath baby blanket - great to work with, very soft, fuzzes a bit. Washed it with a color catching cloth (used teal, lilac, jade, light blue) and hardly any color came off. Don't know how it will stand up to use with a baby, time will tell. I like that it's unmercerized in this size.
