This stuff feels a lot like cotton while knitting with it, but a little more elastic. The nice thing is that it's not heavy like cotton. It's as light as wool. You'd NEVER know that about half of the fiber content is synthetic. I can't speak to long-term wear yet, but my swatches came out of the washer great. I will be using this again.

I really like the colors of the retro yarn, and I unfortunately bought a ton of it for an afghan, so now I'm stuck with it. I am having 2 major issues:

The first is that each skein (and I'm on skein 5 now) has at least 2 knots in it where the yarn is broken and has been knotted together. Talk about cheap! Unless you like hard knots in your work, you'll have to cut the yarn and work it in like an end about twice per skein (not counting the actual end of the skein).

Also, in each skein (and again I'm on skein 5) I've come across small bits of what look and feel like hard straw stuck in the yarn, which need to be removed unless you enjoy an occasional bit of pokey hard straw in your work.

In conclusion, lovely tweedy colors, and I rather like the overall cottony texture, but ugh, the quality of the yarn and the cheapness of the multiple knots in a single skein is just too much. Never again!

          Comments about Berroco Remix:

I haven't started knitting the sweater I bought this for but I must say that I love the softness and the texture. I wan't expecting the yarn to be so soft, given the rugged tweedy look of it. I might have given it a higher (or lower) rating after use.
I'm judging it by the look and feel right out of the package.

            Comments about Berroco Remix:

I was looking for a soft, non-wool, worsted weight yarn for a light-weight pullover sweater, and this was perfect. I used the blue (color 3927) for a denim look. On size 7 needles I got even stitches in stockinette stitch, and nice definition in the cables. The yarn feels and behaves like cotton, but softer. It is not stretchy, so it would not be suitable for a garment that requires a lot of give.

              Comments about Berroco Remix:

I knitted a woman's sweater out of this yarn 6 years ago. I wear it weekly during the fall and winter. I wash it in a regular machine on gentle, and dry it in my dryer on cool and it is nearly as vibrant and soft as the day I made it. Yes, there was matter in it that I had to remove, but it wasn't a big deal. I am off to buy more for another weekend sweater. It doesn't get any easier care than this. Having said that, since it's not listed as machine dryable, I would definitely recommend making a large swatch to make sure that it works for you too.

I am knitting the Gaia sweater from Berocco. This yarn is great for those allergic to animal fibers like my daughter. It knits easy but has no real "give." It washes great too. This is a good yarn for a kids garment or something casual.

I used this yarn in the denim shade for trim and the the red for one twin's sweater and hat and the merlot shade for another twin's set. Easy to work with, will be washable which is great for kids' play wear, and the tweedy shades are beautiful.

I am using this yarn for a prayer shawl for my niece who is allergic to wool. It is very soft and has a rustic look to it. The only drawback is that there are quite a few pieces of vegetable matter (flax bits?) that I've been picking out but overall I don't find that enough of a problem to count against it. I would use this yarn again.
