*This class fulfills the Math for Knitters Requirement for WEKP.
Math can be fun, especially for knitters who want to be in control of their work. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the nitty-gritty of knitting gauge, and we’ll play with percentages and pattern stitch numbers to make sizing adjustments for those times you simply can’t get gauge on the perfect yarn for the perfect project. We’ll also talk about yarn-substitution arithmetic and adding simple shaping to garments, and experiment with other knitting number magic, like the Fibonacci sequence and MacGyver-style measuring. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have some new math tools for your knitting skills kit, and you’ll be ready to play with, not by, the numbers on your next project!
Note: This class includes a 1-hour lunch break.
For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and are available upon request.
