I really like this yarn and how it turns out looking. I like using tweed type yarns to give plush toys a more vintage look. This one works well but has a tendency to break which then you have to tie the yarn back together to continue. It especially breaks during seaming.

I purchased this yarn because my pattern called for Tara Tweed. I thought I would be able to knit at the gauge called for in the pattern with very little changes as I had previously purchased the Tara Tweed in grey for another project and knew what gauge I could get with this yarn. However, the blue is a completely different thickness than the grey. I had to swatch multiple times and never could achieve the gauge called for in the pattern. Now I have to recalculate the entire pattern which is extremely annoying. Comparing the two colors side by side, it is very evident that the two colors are very different thicknesses. So be careful if you are planning to do colorwork with this yarn.

Got this to make a sweater with! It knits great however it proved to be a bit challenging to achieve the correct gauge with! (Lots of swatching!) the pine tweed is a great color love the pop of teal in the tweeds! I did notice it's a bit more stiff then Tara tweeds I've worked with in the past! Nothing huge just a little different from the soft I'm used to!

Bottom line! I would purchase again!

This is my first time with this yarn. Now that it's here, I can imagine all kinds of projects!!!!!!

My order was planned for an over-sized top from Vogue Very Easy Sweaters. It is a 3-color block(or wide stripe) pullover. What fun this will be. For my gauge, it will be knit on size 9 needles...I selected Midnight, Gray an Maroon. In the book, it is knit with a pink, so was disappointed to find a small color choice. It will still be great.

              Comments about 7.95 Tara Tweed:

Tara is a great tweedy yarn that shows great definition with cables. It rustic looking but soft against the skin. Has a drape if knitted slightly looser gauge. This yarn will not disapoint with the right project. Do not knit tight because the ply will break especially when hand sewing.

              Comments about 7.95 Tara Tweed:

I knitted a sweater with this yarn. It was not as soft as I expected, was difficult to get a steady gauge on it, and I think if you really messed with needle size and gauge there may be a gauge where this yarn 'works'. I was going for 4 st/inch, and did some fair isle with it on the sweater.
On the other hand, after washing and blocking it came out quite soft and draped nicely, though I would not knit with this yarn again.
