Blue Sky Fibers Worsted Hand Dyes is one of our favorites! It has a superior blend of 50% alpaca and 50% wool which is absolutely luscious and knits like a dream. There's great pattern support, too. Made in Peru.

I donate hats and only use "luxury" yarn. Depending on the purpose I always choose Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Hand Dyed. I can knit a nice large winter hat with one skein. I am knitting a man's half-zip sweater in charcoal and the stitch definition is great. I wish it could be cloned without wool because I have family members who are allergic to wool.

Worsted hand dyes

I was very unhappy with this yarn. It had many knots . Lots of times the knots came apart when I was knitting.

Comments about true Worsted Hand Dyes:

I knitted a hat and a scarf with this yarn, and it was really easy to knit. I am a between experienced-beginner and intermediate knitter, but found that this yarn was relatively easy to handle, and that I was able to finish making these two items quickly. Best of all, the fabric feels soft to touch and has a nice weight.

I used this yarn to make a beautiful scarf shown in the fall/winter 2010 Vogue knitting magazine. This yarn is the nicest yarn I've ever used. Very easy to knit with, never splits and the texture is awesome. I liked the scarf so much that I made fingerless gloves to match. The set was given to my daughter for Xmas and she has received numerous compliments, not just because of the pattern but because of the superior yarn.
