Knitted the revel modular shawl pattern...colors are beautiful....but as I was knitting in several spots, the yarn just disintegrated...it was always in the same color spot (I was using the grape mist?), so I thought that maybe it had something to do with the dye process, but I see other reviewers with the same problem. Much better yarns out there, in my opinion, and I will not use again. Too bad..I was initially very excited with it.

Be cautious- not for tight knitters

By Bookish Cat Broad

About Me Experienced

Pros

  • Extremely Soft
  • Rich Color

Cons

  • Breaks Easily
  • Difficult To Use

Best Uses

    Comments about Plymouth Yarn Revel:

If you choose this yarn, prepare to be very careful with your stitches. This yarn has already broken on me twice and I'm barely one repeat into a shawl. Maybe it's just the moss green that is a problem. In addition to that, it knots up so easily that pulling out any mistakes or even adjusting a stitch creates a rat's nest.

The positive? It's absolutely beautiful and soft to the touch. However if I had known what working with this yarn would be like, I would not have purchased it.

        Comments about Plymouth Yarn Revel:

This yarn is light-weight and soft with a light halo. I am knitting on 4 mm needles (size 6) with a width of 131 stitches. The striping is about half an inch of cream, then 2 1/2 inches of grey, half and inch of cream, 3 1/2 inches of peach, half an inch of cream, then back to grey in color 01. The yarn is not very stretchy and doesn't split easily. The price was very reasonable, especially for such nice yarn.

        • Perfect For Shawl

        Comments about Plymouth Yarn Revel:

This yarn makes a gorgeous colorful shawl. It is extremely soft; but, it has some fuzziness about it which can cause knotting when you rip out stitches too fast. My advice is to pull the stitches out very slowly for much better results. I purchased the color "Burst", which has every color in the rainbow. It would be nice it the pictures showed the full range of colors.

        Comments about Plymouth Yarn Revel:

Super easy to use on my pin loom and the multi-colors create a really beautify little square. The yarn did not shred using the weaving needle and at the same time even the last two rows of weaving, although tight, were fairly easy to weave. Off the loom it's compact but with drape. Don't have enough made yet to complete a project (a dragon) but the multi-yarn really looks like it could be scales.

I have used this yarn to make socks but I added the elastic thread to reinforce the heels and toes. This yarn is a dream to knit with because it is so soft and I really like the subtle color changes. I will be buying more of this yarn and I would highly recommend it.
