Spincycle Yarns' Dyed in the Wool is hand-dyed before it's spun, making the colors meet and part ways in stunning, unique combinations; the overall effect is of a balanced, seamless whole. The color transitions are slow and dramatic, and each skein is unique. When planning larger projects requiring more than one skein, allow for nuance. Suggested manufacturer's gauge range is 5–8 sts per inch on a US 2-7 needle, so be sure to make a gauge swatch before you start a project.

Please note: This yarn is machine-washable, but hand washing is recommended for color preservation

Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations in colors that are natural and may vary from skein to skein. There may be differences between pictures shown and the yarn you receive. To ensure the best results for your project:

  • Buy enough yarn for your entire project at one time.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn in your project work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect.

If you have any concerns about your hand-dyed yarn, please contact Customer Service for assistance in returning or exchanging your yarn.

careful of color

Comments about SPINCYCLE YARNS Dyed in the Wool:

I ordered Kimono and it arrived as a taupe-and-grayish skein with some off-turquoise. Where were the purples and muted maroons and so forth? It is still a good skein, but it does not resemble the last skein I ordered of Kimono in any way. It is not merely a variation, it is impossible to believe it is meant to be the same color. I bought a skein in Seattle of another color, and while there was considerable variation, at least all the skeins were in the same family. I think it's wisest to purchase this yarn in person.

Comments about SPINCYCLE YARNS Dyed in the Wool:

Exquisite colors and a delight to knit. Because each skein is unique and the garment I am making requires six skeins it was important to be deliberate in choosing the order of the skeins so the colors would flow in an appropriate manner.

Know your yarn before you buy.

Comments about SPINCYCLE YARNS Dyed in the Wool:

I saw this yarn at Midwest Stitches and it was beautiful. For my budget it is to pricey unless I was making something to pass down and consider a heirloom..... I think it is VERY unfair to rate a yarn for it's price, so I am rating it on it's beauty and feel, someday I may get to buy it so I have it on my wish list. Please be fair on rating quality and use of yarn. You all know how
much it cost when you bought it.......for 200 yds. not a ridiculous cost by a good yarn standard.

As lush in color as handspun by a master

Comments about SPINCYCLE YARNS Dyed in the Wool:

I bought a skein of "Kimono" colorway when they were first experimenting and used it in a weaving. It is as variable and marvelous in its colors as actual handspun and the spinning in terms of thickness never got off track. I found a knot in one ply while I was winding a warp. I used the bit in weft by spit-placing—totally easy. I love this yarn. Yes, it is expensive, but if what you want is the look of wonderful hand spun two ply with lots of carefully balanced color changes—this is worth every penny! I am so happy to find it here and I will definitely use it again!

(I have to say I think it is unfair to give a bad rating to a yarn simply because you are not willing to spend that much. There are plenty of options at WEBS.I don't often buy cashmere because of the price, but I understand why it is pricey and it's my choice to weave with merino.)
