It kind of looks like it was spun with cat hair because of the angora. I didn't notice it while I was converting the first skein to a ball, but it was very noticeable once I started knitting and I blamed my Siamese cat. By the 2nd skein, I realized it wasnt his fault.

I recommend using circular needles, even if you are knitting flat pieces, because it is quite slippery and if you are knitting and travelling, it's likely to slip off the needles.

I am knitting the Berocco Panamint shell in Isla Del Sol colour, which is about 2x darker than pictured.

I am working on a top down tee. The yarn feels good, but I am having trouble keeping a consistent gauge. I keep moving up a one needle size since I started the knitting, even though I did made a good swatch before I started. I am not sure this would work for cables, since I am not seeing much definition. Since it is a chainette, it is a good idea to knot the tip of the working strand so it does not ravel with handling.. I think it will be very soft and comfortable to wear. I think this yarn might make great camisoles for wear under winter weight garments also.

I used Maya to make a lacework shawl for a friend who lives in Florida. Since the yarn is mostly cotton with baby alpaca, it seemed perfect for use in a warm climate. The color is a rich, beautiful purple, more red than blue. The shawl worked up beautifully and my dear friend loves it.

      VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER

      Comments about 8.00 Maya:

I have crocheted for over forty years but have never knit anything until now. I wanted to make a very pretty sweater for my daughter from a magazine pattern. So, I started searching for the yarn and found yarn.com to have the best offerings overall. They had not only the amount of yarn I needed in stock and of the same dye lot, but they also had the best pricing hands down. The MAYA yarn has been an absolute pleasure to work with, the sweater is almost finished and I find myself looking for more things I can make with this type of yarn and so many beautiful colors to choose from. It is different from the spun roving of multiple materials we are so accustomed to. It is very soft to the skin when knit up into a garment, I know its going to be extremely comfortable.

      Comments about 8.00 Maya:

Loved working with this yarn. I both crocheted and knitted with it, and found it soft and easy to work with. For crochet, I did some cable work that turned great (not too bulky). The stitch definition in both knitting and crochet is great! I plan to order more of this yarn soon.

Currently working on a baby blanket and this cotton is light, bouncy and soft to the touch. Has wonderful gauge and will be using again to substitute for a very expensive chained summer linen yarn.
