The Valley Yarns Anniversary Placemats have an Atwater/Bronson lace structure that also uses a turned draft, allowing for weft floats and warp floats on the same surface of the pattern. Additionally, using two closely related colors, one for warp and one for weft, adds emphasis and life to the pattern.

A note from Designer Barbara Elkins: "...these are a re-do of a set of placemats I wove for Steve and Kathy when they were first married. Many, many uses and washings later, they probably became dust rags! A new set of dishes called for a new set of placemats!"

This draft is a PDF download.

Equipment: 8-shaft loom, 15” minimum weaving width; reed, 1 shuttle, 1 bobbin, temple optional but helpful.
Warp Yarns: Valley Yarns 10/2 mercerized cotton, (4200 yds/lb.), #2625, Ink Blue, 2268 yds.
Weft Yarns: Valley Yarns 10/2 mercerized cotton, (4200 yds/lb.), #2655, Victoria Blue, approx. 1900 yds. Cotton sewing thread for hems to match weft. Gutermann 100% cotton sewing thread comes in a huge assortment of colors and is a really nice weight for hems. Note that any two closely related colors work well in case these blues don’t work for you.
Warping Info: 378 ends 5 yards long for 4 placemats and one runner approx. 34” long, finished size.
Sett: 27 epi. 3/dent in a 9-dent reed; 2-3-3 in a 10-dent reed; 2-2-2-3 in a 12-dent reed.
Dimensions: Finished size after hemming and washing: Placemats 12 1/2” x 19 3/4”, Runner 12 1/2” x 34 3/8”.

There is an error in the draft. The correction will not download- have tried 2 different browsers. Download is "0 bytes" --EMPTY

I cannot recommend this to anyone until error can be determined. So frustrating!
