I am making a vest that recommended this yarn, it is a lighter weight than I expected but I really like the way it looks as it comes togehter. Will post a picture when I am done. First item I have made for myself in quite a while!

I started out with a cute bolero pattern that was designed for this yarn. Since this yarn is 100% cotton, the pattern stated to expect about 12% shrinkage after washing and drying (which was taken into account in the pattern). Though the pattern was 'stinkin' cute, and my daughter would have loved it), I found it to be too complex for me to endure to the end, so I ripped it out.

However, I was still intrigued with the yarn (being made from recycled jeans) so I decided to make a simple lacy scarf, using large size 13 needles on two strands of Riveting. It turned out cute and my daughter really likes it, but the shrinkage in lenght was about 18%, not 12%. At this point, I still have 3 skeins of yarn left, so I will try making the same scarf with just one strand and a bit smaller needle so as to be lighter in weight and a slightly tighter knit.

I think possibly the difference in the needle size affects the amount of shrinkage. I was expecting to be able to make some things to sell, but with an unstable shrinkage factor, it would not be profitable. For personal use, if you like a good challenge to create something with this unique yarn, I say, 'go for it.'

i'm making a little girl's sweater and it's knitting up beautifully. her mom will love that it's made out of old jeans and i love that it's faded with just a touch of variation and so soft. i plan to get some more and make a shawlette for myself.

Others have complained that the yarn is hard on your hands, but I don't find it any worse than any other cotton yarn, and better than some.

Nice even color, doesn't split...I am enjoying working with it so far.

I love the fact that this yarn is recycled from jeans. It has the lovely stonewashed look of that favorite pair of comfortable jeans. As an Earth Science teacher, I try to teach my 6th graders to be "green" minded, and this was a good example of practicing what I preach. The yarn drapes beautifully in my shawl, especially the crocheted ruffle, and I loved working with it. I plan to buy more in other colors.

I'm weaving this up into a couple of scarves and am extremely pleased with it. The yarn is pretty and surprisingly soft and will only get softer after washing. There wasn't a single knot in any of the three skeins I purchased which makes me very happy. It also is just the right weight and texture to hide all joins. Like all denim, it should go with everything. A quick and fun weave.
