Fair Isle is darker than the photo

Comments about DONE ROVING YARNS Frolicking Feet DK Gradient Transitions:

I was a tad disappointed that the yarn is so much darker than the photo. I understand about dye lots, but my Fair Isle looks more like Sea Smoke, and is as dark as Sugar Plums (for comparison purposes). Also, I was hoping for more gradient changes from light to dark. THAT being said, I really do like the yarn. I have a project in mind, but won't get to work it up until summer time. A note to the makers... please try to keep the dyes closer to the photo. That is expensive yarn, and when spending that much money and trying to design a colorway for a pattern with it, one needs to better rely on advertised representations of the yarn. I did work up a few double-crochets in a square with some accent yarn (turquoise fingering sized) and it looks good. So, that may be what I end up doing to salvage the dark color into a more aquatic one. It works up easy, no splitting, and is relatively soft. It will make into a nice sturdy afghan for heavy use.
