This is the first time I have used Classic Silk and I am in love. It is not soft like alpaca or a fine merino but it drapes so beautifully I can forgive it. I also love the slight nubbiness of the yarn - the texture is very appealing. It does stretch a little and I am glad it did because I needed it to block out longer. I am very pleased with this product and will use it again.

I was in a hurry to have a summer vest to wear over short sleeves, since this is a layer that usually comes off by lunchtime! The yarn knit up quickly and the silk made the color (blue) look rich.

I am using this yarn for a summer weight sleeveless top. I'm not quite finished, but I love how it makes up, and I am using a slip stitch design.

This is a versatile gauge 20 stitches by 28 rows on US 5 which knits up beautifully. The cotton silk blend fabric has great drape yet also holds its shape. I knit the "Badia" vest by Berocco with cables Nd lace which showed off beautifully. I also knit an attractive lace cowl and have plans for a "Beauty Cardigan" and "Longsham" top with this yarn. The colors are rich in a wide range of shades.

          Comments about 8.95 Classic Silk:

I ordered this yarn in April or May in Cool Cranberry, but changed my color choice to Red Grape in late July, because it was on backorder -& still is. With the silk content, I thought it would be a perfect yarn for a top I could wear most of the year. It is unevenly dyed -has white spots running through it- & stretched so much when washed & blocked, my shell is unwearable. I tried washing it again & putting it into the dryer & it grew across even more & ruined the finished bottom. Every stitch I fixed (changed from knit to purl or vice versa) is obvious, because it stretches so much.

I have three unused skeins I cannot return -the pattern called for ~1,000 yards & it only took 675- so I am stuck with over 400 yards of expensive, poorly dyed dishcloth cotton.

I wanted to make a baby item; the pattern called for this and it's anything but soft, nor did it look good. It was thick and bulky . I wasn't please with the stitches and all in all was disappointed. The colors are fabulous and again i was making something that they shouldn't have suggested that yarn for

I love the feel of this yarn! The luster of silk is lost when it is blended with cotton, but you gain a soft, cushy, springy yarn that is a joy to knit and wear.
